Seniors donate backdrop and stage

This year's graduation at Burroughs High School includes a new feature: a stage and backdrop.

Brenda Froehner, school secretary, said the seniors donated the stage and backdrop with gold lettering for use at graduations.

The backdrop reads "Class of 2001" this year, but the students bought numbers through 2010 for future graduating classes.

At 8 p.m. Friday, 250 graduates put the stage to use for the first time in the school stadium.

Froehner said the motto was "Remember the moments of the past. Look forward to the promise of the future. But always celebrate the present, for it is precious."

Froehner said highlights of the year included homecoming week and the baseball team making it to the California Interscholastic Federation championship match in Dodger Stadium.
