Dr. Joseph Anderson

Joseph Anderson, MD was Bakersfield's first lung specialist.

Dr. Anderson began practicing medicine here in 1959, taking up residency at Kern General Hospital. Fours years later he opened his private practice.

Anderson's practice grew steadily, but he still found time to help in the community. He was an active member of Kern Council for Civic Unity during Bakersfield's own civil rights struggles in the 60's, and he served as the international president of the International Y1s Men. Anderson also helped raise funds for orphanages and vocational centers in developing countries, and he has counseled high school students through Kiwanis Club1s Circle K program.

Dr. Anderson is not known for speech making, but he has a reputation for "making things happen" when there is a job to be done.
